BCXPesa is the concept for a simpler bridge between the money Kenyans already use every day and the world of digital assets — built for the person who's curious about crypto, not the trader chasing charts.
The idea is to remove the intimidating parts of crypto — wallets, seed phrases, exchange jargon — and replace them with something every M-Pesa user already understands.
Pay into BCXPesa through M-Pesa, the same way you'd pay any till number or paybill today. No new habits to learn.
Your shillings are converted into the crypto asset of your choice at a transparent, displayed rate — no hidden spread, no guesswork.
Keep it in your BCXPesa wallet, or — once the BCX Card rolls out — spend it directly, anywhere cards are accepted.
Play with the simulator below to get a feel for the experience we're building. It uses illustrative rates — no M-Pesa prompt is sent and no crypto changes hands.
A preview of how moving money in and out would feel — from an M-Pesa prompt on your phone, to holding it as crypto, to cashing back out. This wallet lives only in your browser and resets whenever you clear it.
A future phase of BCXPesa envisions a card linked directly to your crypto balance — spend it at the shops, restaurants, and online stores you already use, with conversion happening quietly in the background.
The web preview you've been using is a first look — the real product is planned as a mobile app first, since that's where most of Kenya already lives online. Deposit, hold, watch rates move, and eventually spend, without ever opening a laptop.
If you're new to crypto, these are probably the real questions on your mind — not "what's the blockchain," but "can I trust this."
Right now, BCXPesa isn't processing real transactions at all — this is a pre-launch preview. When it does go live, safety means transparent rates, no hidden spreads, and a licensed liquidity partner handling the actual crypto side rather than us holding your funds ourselves.
Kenya's Virtual Asset Service Providers Act, 2025, and its 2026 Regulations now require licensing to operate a crypto exchange or broker. BCXPesa is not yet licensed, and won't process real transactions until it is. We'd rather tell you that plainly than let you assume otherwise.
No — never, by phone, SMS, WhatsApp, or in the app itself. Anyone asking you for your PIN and claiming to be from BCXPesa is not us. Your PIN only ever gets entered directly on your own phone's M-Pesa prompt.
We don't have a fixed date yet — it depends on finalizing a licensed partner and completing the regulatory process. Joining the waitlist means you'll hear about it first, before any public launch.
Leave your details and we'll reach out the moment BCXPesa is ready to move real money — with real licensing behind it.
